I was watching an episode of Rick and Morty and I was struck by one of the things I heard. Now, this is not a show that I would say a lot of advice or deep thought comes from often, but this one stuck with me. Rick did something that was boo-worthy in front of a crowd. The crowd booed him but he said:
“Your boos mean nothing to me - I have seen what you people cheer for.”
Um, wow.
Think about that? The insight and care that this gives to not only Rick’s mental health but his understanding of people. Some people will always be rude and can say whatever they want but it should be meaningless to you. It is meaningless when you know what they stand for. Use this in your daily life to assuage yourself of any doubt that you are on the right path. If you are making tough and brave decisions, it is irrelevant what people say.
Never forget: if you want to conduct the orchestra, you have to turn your back on the crowd.
How are you going to conduct yourself today? What beats will move you, how will you crescendo and what kind of a chord can you strike this week?
Your Monday MENtal Motivation for today is to strike up the band and work on your opus for all to hear and see. Be great, never settle and leave your mark on someone’s soul. Take care of yourself - you are the only you in the entire world. Regardless of what you have going on, remember to always keep pushing.
